To promote networking and strengthen ties with neighbouring institutions and other laboratories

To conduct specialized training programmes for faculty improvement for optimizing technical capabilities

To increase capabilities of core instrumentation resources by procuring new equipment and upgrading of existing facilities

To provide access and exposure to students to research laboratories and industries in the country

To help in devising standard curricula and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) / kits for practicals.

Mentoring and Monitoring: Rigorous monitoring is carried out to review progress of the colleges supported under the scheme. Regular mentoring and monitoring is done through:

Annual Progress review before DBT expert committee.

Annual in-house advisory committee meeting with external experts.

Mentoring committee: Site visit by expert committee.

Enhanced enrollment of students in life science courses, decreased drop-out rate, and increased number of students are opting for science courses.

Modernization of labs and better equipped laboratories, better access to costly consumables

Enrichment of libraries, membership to e-journals etc.

Several teaching kits, practical manuals, e-lab contents etc. have been developed by teachers and students

Enhanced opportunities for interaction for students and faculty with leading experts

Faculty improvement programmes for UG teachers

Training programmes for laboratory staff and technicians in laboratory safety, ethical practices, radioactive waste handling and management, handling of hazardous, pathogenic organisms.
