Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years. To develop the culture of innovation systematically, MIC has created ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)’ across selected HEIs.

Major Focus of IIC

To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem.

Start-up supporting mechanism in HEIs.

Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements Framework.

Establish function ecosystem for scouting ideas and pre-incubation of ideas.

Develop better Cognitive Ability for students of Technical courses.

Functions of IIC

To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.

Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.

Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.

Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.

Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.

Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries.

Smart India Hackathon 2020 (Internal Hackathon)

Institution Innovation Council is organizing Internal-Hackathon2020 on 20th January 2020.
Winning entries from the Internal Hackathon will be sent for participation in SIH2020.

Interested students can participate in teams of 6.

The problem statements of SIH2020 are available HERE. Interested teams must select a problem statement and propose a solution accordingly on the prescribed format.

Winning teams will be awarded with certificates and prizes and all the participants will be given participation certificates.

MHRD’s Innovation Cell is celebrating 15th October 2019 as Innovation Day to mark the birth anniversary of a great visionary and a dreamer of Innovative India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Our Institution’s Innovation Council, under the aegis of MHRD’s Innovation Cell, is joining this campaign and organizing a Poster Presentation on ‘Grassroot level innovations’ on 5th October, 2019 for the students. The best posters will be displayed across the campus.

Organised Workshop on Design Thinking, Critical Thinking and Innovation Design (workshop on Electronics)
organised one day visit for an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outreach Program "Millets and Entrepreneurship" at Government Senior Secondary School, Badheri, Chandigarh on 25 February2023. The resource person for the event is Ms. Harinder Jaspal, Millets Chef and Expert.
My Story - Motivational Session by Successful Innovator, a motivational talk was organised on 21 February 2023. The resource person for the event was Ms. Rosy, co-founder of KAAPI LA Roasters.
A workshop on the topic “Problem Solving and Ideation” was organised by the Post-graduate Department of Economics under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council (5.0) on 21st February 2023 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The resource person for the event was Ms. Shaurya Munjal, Founder and Life Catalyst of Two Hazy Circles. A total of 48 students attended the workshop.
In Leadership talk by MIC on 30 January 2023, Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation officer, MOE, GOI with Prof. T.B Sitharam, Chairman AICTE gave a brief introduction of his journey from Director, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati to being Chairman AICTE mentioning that how development of multidisciplinary institutes and focus on research is important for overall growth in our country. This informative and inspiring session was attended by 24 students and 4 faculty members.
Giving an impetus to its endeavour of providing holistic education and opening up varied vistas for its students, a 4-day skill development Photography Workshop was organized by Department of Mass Communication under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council 5.0 of the college. The workshop was conducted by seasoned photographer Mr. Rajnish Katyal. Over 41 students participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
Institution's Innovation council (IIC 5.0) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women Chandigarh organized an offline expert talk and mentoring session on the topic “Innovation and Entrepreneur through Waste Management”. Mr. Puneet Arora, Founder, Ecological Corporation, Panchkula was the key speaker of this mentoring session. The event was attended by 56 Students and 8 faculty members.
A workshop on the topic “Entrepreneurship skill, Attitude and Behaviour Development” was organised by the Post-graduate Department of Economics under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council (5.0) on 24th January 2023. Mr. Paramjit Singh, Founder and Director Of Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), Mr. Gursharan Singh, Director of True Success and Mr. Satwinder Singh, Senior Consultant at RCED were the resource persons of the workshop. A total of 98 students and 12 Faculty Members attended the workshop.
The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC 5.0) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized the 'Idea Competition 2023' on 23rd January 2023.
Under the aegis of Institutions Innovation Council 5.0, Department of Zoology organised an industrial visit to government fish farm, Faganmajra, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab for understanding the problems faced by fish Industry. The trip was organised on 20 January 2023 with a team of three staff members and forty students from BSc final year.
To mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, popularly celebrated as National Youth Day, A poster making competition on the Topic “Role of youth icons in Indian Innovations and Technology” was organized by PG Department of Chemistry under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council on 12 January 2023. A total of 15 faculty members of IIC 5.0 attended Orientation Session on IIC 5.0 (2022-23) & Features by MoE's Innovation Cell (MIC) on January 11, 2023.
IIC 5.0 in collaboration with MCM Eco-Club ‘Parivesh’ and Renewable energy committee of the college organized an awareness session on ‘Energy conservation and management’ by Dr. Pallavi Gupta, Assistant Professor in Physics, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh on 14 December 2022 to celebrate National Energy Conservation Day which is celebrated to make people aware of global warming and climate change, and to promote efforts towards saving energy resources. As many as 50 students of B.Sc. Medical attended the session. Second quarter meeting of IIC5.0 was hold on 19 December 2022 to review the action plan of second quarter.
IIC 5.0 in collaboration with MCM Eco-club ‘Parivesh’ organized a lecture on “Carbon Watch Application” by Dr. Sandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor in Zoology. Dr. Sandeep spread awareness about the “Carbon Watch App” which is a mobile application launched by Chandigarh Administration. A total of 46 students of B.Sc. III Medical and 3 teachers attended the session and got sensitized to reduce their carbon footprint values.
Swachhta Committee of DCSA under the aegis of IIC 5.0 organized an activity on “Innovative ways of moving from waste to greens” on 17 November 2022. The primary purpose of conducting this exercise was to provide students with an opportunity to learn about many innovative approaches that can be used to manage the waste in such a manner that it can be brought into use again. First Cash Prize of Rs 1000/- was awarded to Manya of B.Sc-I NM, Second Cash Prize of Rs. 800/- was awarded to Sneha of BCA-I, and third cash prize of Rs. 500/- was awarded to Parminder of BCA-I and Nishu of BCA-I.
IIC 5.0 in collaboration with the Start Up Cell of MCM organized an online session on ‘Budding Entrepreneurs: Is Your Portfolio Bespoke Enough’ on 14 November 2022. The Resource person for the online session was Ms. Mahima Sindhi, personality shaper and skills sculpturist. Around 72 students and 4 faculty members attended the session. An offline Interactive session was organized on the topic ‘My Story’ on 16 November 2022. The resource person for the event was Ms. Aakanksha Dhawan, Founder of Smash Queen and Franchise Owner of Superdonuts, Elante Mall, Chandigarh.
IIC 5.0 in collaboration with the department of Zoology organized a power point presentation competition to spread awareness about National Education Policy (NEP) on National Education Day on 11 November 2022. Around 40 Students and 3 Faculty members attended the session. First, second and third prizes were bagged by Gurpriya Kaur, Taraz and Sara of BSc Medical respectively.
An offline mentoring session followed by a Power Point Presentation competition for celebrating National Innovation Day - October 15 was organized by the Department of Computer Science & Applications (DCSA) under the aegis of IIC 5.0 on the topic “Innovations in Indian Industry” to celebrate National Innovation Day - October 15 and the Birth Anniversary of the Missile Man of India - Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. A total of 52 students attended the session and 20 students presented PPTs. Around 5 faculty members participated in the event. First, second and third prizes were bagged by Ms Prabhjeet, Ms Anureet and Riya of BSc Computer Applications.
Department of Computer Science and Applications under the aegis of IIC 5.0 organized a 6-day skill-based offline workshop on “Be a Designing Entrepreneur using Photoshop” from 5 to 10 September 2022. The resource persons for the workshop were Ms. Nikita, Freelance Graphics Designer and alumna of the college and Master Saiansh Sharda, Graphics Designer and vlogger. A total of 45 students attended the workshop and learned various aspects of graphics designing using Photoshop.
Through YouTube Channel of MIC, Students of DCSA attended inaugural session of 5G services launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 1st October in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The main objective was to launch 5G technology and make students aware about 5G services and their impact on common man. After this session, Students were made aware about 5G Technology by Dr Indu Arora, Vice president of IIC@MCM and Head of Department of Computer Science, through Power Point Presentation.
Startup cell under the aegis of IIC 5.0 organized Slogan Writing Competition based on the theme of “Start Up India”, an initiative of Government of India, on 1st October 2022 to mark the celebration of India Startup Day. Around 65 students participated in this activity with their innovative and self-created slogans. A total of 3 faculty members of IIC 5.0 coordinated this well received activity. First prize went to Sonali Rawat of BA-III, second prize to Jashanpreet Kaur of B. Com-III and third prize went to Arshia Mahajan of B. Com-III.
IIC 5.0 in association with DCSA organized an Essay Reading Contest on the topic "India’s Achievements@75 in Innovation & Technology" to celebrate National Engineer’s Day. The event was held on 28th October, 2022. Engineer's Day is observed every year on September 15 on the birth anniversary of the legendary engineer Shri. Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. 9 participants were shortlisted for reading their essays from 27 students who submitted their entries in the essay writing contest. 41 students and 4 faculty members attended the event. Ist Prize was awarded to Sanya of BCA-II, IInd to Surpreet of BCA-II and IIIrd to Nitika Prabhakar of BSc.II (Medical).

The 3rd regional meet of IIC institutions from North-West Region (J&K, HP, UK, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh UT) was held at Chandigarh University on 26th July 2022. Our college representatives Dr Indu Arora for IIC, Dr Sarabjeet Kaur for ARIIA, Ms Disha Sharma for IP and Dr Kiran Jindal for NISP attended the meet.
Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE organized a live online session on the topic “Out of the box thinking for problem solving” on 28th June 2022. Around 21 students and 24 Faculty members attended the session.
An online awareness session on ‘Accelerators/Incubators- Opportunities for Students and Faculty (Early-Stage Entrepreneurs)’ was organised by the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC 4.0), Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women on 14 June, 2022 to familiarize students with the role of accelerators and incubators in promoting entrepreneurship. The resource person for the session was Dr. Neetu, Innovation Ambassador, IIC@MCM and Head, Department of Zoology, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh. As many as 55 students from undergraduate and graduate streams of sciences and 09 faculty members attended the session.
A webinar was organized by the IIC 4.0 on the topic ‘Angel Investment and Venture Capital Funding Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs’ on 9 June 2022. The resource person for the event was Mr. Dinesh Duggal, Ex-Banker. A total of 30 students and 03 faculty members attended the event through Google Meet and YouTube live streaming platform.

Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University was the resource person for the day. Around 66 students and four faculty members attended the session
An online session was organized by the IIC 4.0 on the topic ‘Role of Incubation Units/Startups in nurturing Innovative Ideas’ on 4th June 2022. The resource persons for the event were Mr. Vikram Dhawan, an entrepreneur and a consultant and Dr. Swati Dhawan, a faculty and a trainer. A total of 61 participants including students and teachers have attended the event
Swacchta Committee of DCSA organized a competition on "Case Study on Innovative techniques used to manage the waste" under the aegis of IIC 4.0. on 30 May 2022. A total of 14 teams with a total of 23 students took part in the competition and enthusiastically submitted case studies on topics like: Zero Waste Project, Innovative model of Alappuzha, Oil from plastic waste, Case study to manage Ganga, Case Study: Flower recycling, Solid waste management by Chandigarh, Waste management in Leh, “How Asia’s cleanest village Mawlynnong is managing”, “How India’s startups are fighting the waste management crisis”, C&D Waste management Gurugram (Haryana) and Innovative practices adopted by MCM to manage the waste. First prize of Rs. 1000/- went to Bandhan Shinde and Ishmeet of BA III, Second prize of Rs. 800/- went to Renu Bala, Kriti Aggarwal of B.Com-III and BSc-1 Computer Application. Third prize of Rs. 500/- went to Payal and Palak of BCA-II.
An online session was conducted by the Post Graduate Department of Economics under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC 4.0) on the topic “Lean Startup and Minimum Viable Product/Business” on 30 May 2022. The resource person for the lecture was Dr Japneet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. A total 119 students and 07 faculty members attended the webinar through Google meet link and YouTube live streaming platform.
PG Department of Chemistry under the aegis of IIC organized an online webinar “National Intellectual Property Awareness Program” on 25 May 2022 via Google meet. The Resource Person of the session Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Examiner of Patents & Designs, Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India made the session very informative by elaborating patents, their properties, types of patents and their importance in industry. A total number of 52 students and 17 faculty members actively participated in the event.
Fourth quarter review meeting of IIC 4.0 was held on 18 May 2022 in off line Mode. Department of Physics under the aegis of IIC organized a webinar “Awareness on IPR, IP Management and Legal Framework” on 23 May 2022. The Resource Person of the session Nitish Agarwal, Examiner of Patents & Designs, Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India quoted many examples to make the session interactive.
Department of Physics under the aegis of IIC organized a webinar “Physics: Innovation-Startup-Entrepreneurship” on 14 May 2022. The Resource Person of the session Dr. Ashim Kumar Saha, Co-founder & Chief Operating Officer of Navariti Innovation and Director & Co-founder of Tervis Medical Systems Pvt. Ltd. Hyderabad, Telangana elaborated on the role of Physical Science in evolution of modern technology. Total 76 participants including 67 students and 9 teachers participated in the webinar.
IIC 4.0 organized a webinar on “Identifying Intellectual Property at the Early Stage of Innovation” on 12 May 2022. The resource person for the session was Mr. Vineet Sharma, Senior Vice President, TT Consultants Pvt. Ltd who has an experience of 14 years in Intellectual Property Management and preparing IP strategies. Total 70 Students and 6 Faculty members attended the session.
DCSA organized an offline Declamation Contest on the theme “Technology for Inclusive & Sustainable Growth” under the aegis of IIC 4.0 to mark the celebration of NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY DAY on 11th May, 2022. Around 19 participants registered for the declamation contest. While 67 students and 7 faculty members attended the contest. Dr Mandeep Chawla, Ms Deeksha Gupta and Ms Navdeep Kaur were the jury members to adjudge the contest. The jury declared contest results as - Ridhi Sharma from BCA-1 as first position, Nupur from BCA-1 as second position and Akshita Goyat from BCA-III as third position winners respectively.
IIC 4.0 organized a Workshop on "Intellectual Property Rights and IP Management for Start-ups" on 6 May 2022. The resource person for the session was Ms. Pooja Kumar (Founder and Director, Innove Intellect LLP), Registered Patent Agent (Govt.of India), Start-up Facilitator and Mentor. The session was attended by 96 students and 8 faculty members.
IIC 4.0 organized a competition on “Case Study Analysis on Intellectual Property Rights disputes between Indian Companies” on 5 May 2022. First cash prize of Rs 1500/- to Tanisha of B.Com-II, second cash prize of Rs 1000/- to Jasmine of B. Com-II and third Cash prize of Rs 500/- to Ramanjot Kaur of B.Sc-III were awarded.
A very useful and insightful session on the topic ‘Converting Innovation/Prototype into a Start-up’ was conducted by Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC 4.0) on 2 May 2022. Dr. Manika Kohli, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce & Innovation Ambassador (IIC), Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh was the resource person of the event. Enthusiastic participation of 98 students and 07 faculty members made the event a huge success.
An offline expert talk was organized by IIC 4.0 on the topic ‘How to plan for Startups & Legal and Ethical Steps’ on 29th April 2022. The resource person for the event was Ms. Kajal Dubey, Founder and CEO of Our Virtual Solutions, Women Entrepreneur Mindset Coach and Business Consultant. A total of 110 students and 7 faculty members attended the event.
An awareness session to mark the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day was conducted by PG Department of Chemistry under aegis of IIC 4.0 on 26 April 2022 via Google meet. The resource person Mr Vijay Gupta, Advocate, Lexntech IP Law Office, New Delhi acquainted the participants with various challenges associated with intellectual property rights.
Department of Environment Science under the aegis of IIC 4.0 organized an Online Workshop on “Floral Waste Recycling Innovatively” on 22 April 2022 to celebrate Earth Day on April 22. The official theme of the day this year is “Invest in Our Planet”. The Resource Person, Ms. Poonam Sehrawat, is a renowned environmentalist, social worker, influencer, and motivational speaker who also runs Aaruhi Enterprises, wherein she established a self-sustainable business model of making dhoopbatti, diyas & other items from the flower waste of temples. Basically, waste to wealth management was promoted through this workshop. Over 74 participants 67 students and 7 Teachers were benefitted from the same.
2022was organized with an aim to propagate the culture of innovation and start-ups among the students. The speaker of the event was Dr Manika Kohli Innovation Ambassador, Assistant Professori n Commerce. 13 faculty members and 56 students attended the session. In an initiative to develop entrepreneurial skills of the students, IIC 4.0 also organized Online Demo Day/Poster Presentation Competition on “Business Model Canvas” on 12 April 2022. Dr. Manika Kohli, Assistant Professor, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women conducted the activity. Around 21 students actively participated in the competition. First prize went to Inderjot kaur of B.Com., Second prize went to Simranjeet kaur of B.Com., Third prize went to Prerna Pulani of B.Com. and Consolation prize was awarded to Ritika of BCA II year.
Third quarter review meeting of IIC 4.0 was held on 28 March 2022 in blended mode. The agenda of the meeting was to review activities undertaken in previous quarter and plan for the next quarter. Dr Nisha Bhargava, principal and President of IIC@MCM elaborated about the funding options for start-ups initiated by college students and alumni through College Innovation and Start-ups Policy (CISP) and apprised all about such start-ups which have been funded by the college.
IIC 4.0 organized Internal Hackathon in this regard on 10 March 2022. Around 18 students participated in this event. First Team included Achirabha Singh, Jasnoor Kaur, Mehak Salaria, Piezal Singh, Sonali Chugh and Harshita of BCA-III, Second Team included Nikita and Ruhani of BCA-III, Angellina, Nupur, Riddhi and Sanya of BCA-1, Third Team included Priyamm Mahajan, Dakshita Dutta, Shatakshi, Manya, Khushi and Rishika of BCA-III.
IIC 4.0 organized an online Idea Competition on 9 March 2021. A total of 11 teams of 20 students participated in the Idea Competition and presented their ideas on various themes. Out of these 6 teams were shortlisted by the screening committee for off line presentations. First Prize of Rs 20000/- went to Agrima and Palak of Bsc MFT-II for Beet leaves as probiotics. Second Prize of Rs 15000/- went to Noveldeep Kaur and Harsimrat Kaur of BSc MFT-II for Sustainable Bio based food packaging through waste recycling. Third Prize of Rs 10000/- went to Charlie and Chailcy Verma MFT-II for Basket full benefits of organic tablets over chlorine tablets for purification of water. Fourth Prize of Rs 5000/-went to Rupika arya, Mehak bains MFT II for Protein Bars. Fifth Prize of Rs 3000/-went to Sangam and Aayushi Roy MFT-II for the Repertoire of Bamboo.
IIC 4.0 organized a session on “How to Develop Proof of Concept for Innovative Ideas/Pitching Event for POCs Developed and Linkage with Innovation Ambassadors for Mentorship Support” on 5 March 2022 by Innovator Ms. Shivanshi Vashist, Managing Director, Micro Radical 360 Degree Pvt. Ltd. Around 59 students and 6 faculty members attended this offline session.
An online workshop was conducted by the IIC 4.0 on the topic “Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behaviour Development” on 3 March 2022. National Level Online PPT competition sponsored by Department of Science & Technology & Renewable Energy was organized by DCSA under the aegis of IIC 4.0 and MCM Vigyan Manch on February 28, 2022. A total of 28 students presented their PPT.
IIC 4.0 organized an online awareness session on the topic Social Entrepreneurship on 26 February 2022. The Resource Person, Dr. Ketaki Dwivedi, Assistant Professor, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women focused that as the world advances towards new heights, social challenges have engulfed us in equal measure.
A Session on ‘Motivational Story by a Start Up founder’ on 23 February 2022was conducted by the IIC4.0 in collaboration with the Start-up Cell. The resource person for the event was Mr. Paramdeep Singh Anand, CEO, Field Assist, India’s leading B2B sales Automation Platform.
An Awareness Session on the topic ‘Role of NISP in cultivating Start-up Culture’ was organized by the IIC 4.0 in collaboration with Start-up Cell on 23 February 2022. The Resource Person- Dr. Kiran Jindal, Assistant Professor in Commerce elaborated CISP and NISP both. A total of 69 students and 04 faculty members attended the event.
Department of Zoology under the aegis of IIC4.0 and MCM Vigyan Manch organized an industrial cum field visit to Global Apiaries India, Dera Bassi on 22 February, 2022 for the students of B.Sc-III Medical. 20 students and 3 faculty members went for the field visit.
A webinar was organized by IIC 4.0 on ‘Process of Innovation Development & Technology Readiness Level (TRL) & Commercialism of Lab Technologies & Tech-Transfer’ on 22 February 2022. The resource person for the event was Prof. Rupinder Tewari, IPR-Chair Professor, Former and Founder Chairperson, Dept. of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University, Chandigarh. A total of 131 students and 10 faculty members attended the event
A Webinar-cum-Workshop on ‘Problem Solving and Ideation’ was organized by Department of Computer Science & Applications (DCSA) under the aegis of IIC 4.0 on 15 February 2022. The resource person for the webinar-cum-Workshop was Mr. Neeraj Mehta, Entrepreneur, Investor and Philanthropist. Around 61 students and 11 faculty members participated in the event.
Second Quarter Review Meeting of IIC 4.0 was held in blended mode on 17 January 2022 for ensuring that IIC4.0@MCM was able to achieve the milestones set in the first quarter and deciding the action plan of Second Quarter. IIC members also attended on line Orientation Session IIC 4.0 & its Features, organized by MOE’s Innovation Cell (MIC) on 24 January 2022.
E-Symposium on Building Innovation Ecosystem in Educational Institutions-Day1 on 12 January 2022 was organized by MOE’s Innovation Cell (MIC). A total of 22 faculty members and 29 students attended the event. On Day2-12 January 2022, 17 faculty members and 4 students attended the event.
A collage making competition on the theme ‘Save Energy, Save Future’ was organised to celebrate ‘National Energy Conservation Day’ on 14 December, 2021. Around 33 students participated in this competition and shared their innovative ideas for saving the energy and protecting the environment for future generations. Garima of B.Sc. III Non-Medical, Umang of B.Sc. III Non-Medical and Shreya of B.Sc. I Non-Medical got first, second and third prizes respectively.
‘Just A Minute Idea’ competition on the theme ‘Stubble Burning’ was organized by IIC4.0 in collaboration with Department of Environment Science to mark the celebration of National Pollution Control Day (December 2). Around 23 participants attended the event. Muskaan Lamba of MA II Economics got first prize. Second prize went to Bhavika Mehta of B.Sc. II Non-Medical, and third prize to Dhanu of B.Com. II. Consolation prizes were given to Simar of BA I and Vashika of B.Com. I.
Sh. Sidhant Banura, Director, Ashvamegha Solutions conducted a workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship & Innovation as Career opportunity’ on 27 November, 2021. A total of 68 students and 07 faculty members attended the event.
Ms. Shivanshi Vashist, Managing Director, MicroRadical 360 degree Pvt. Ltd. delivered a ‘Motivational Talk by Innovator’ on 26 November, 2021. Around 104 students and 6 faculty members participated in the event.
Ms Disha, Department of Commerce, and Innovation Ambassador-IPRs and Technology Transfer, deliberated on ‘Basics of Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer’ on 12 November, 2021. More than 100 participants attended the event.
A Session on ‘National Education Policy (NEP)’ was organised by DCSA under the aegis of IIC 4.0 on 11 November, 2021. The resource person for the event was Dr. Neetu, HOD, Department of Zoology and Convener, IIC 4.0. A total of 40 students and 05 faculty members attended the session. NEP was well explained to let the students understand that how Innovation, start-ups and entrepreneurship are going to be integral part of education to make India self-reliant and progressive.
An Online Essay writing competition for celebrating ‘National Innovation Day’ (October 15) on account of Birth Anniversary of the Missile Man of India Dr. Abdul Kalam was organised on 02 November, 2021 on the topic ‘Grassroot Innovations in India’. A total of 24 students submitted the essays. Alisha of B.Sc. I (Computer Applications) bagged first position. Srishti of B.Sc.III (Computer Applications) got second position and Angellina Gill of BCAI secured third position.
An Online PowerPoint Presentation competition for celebrating ‘India Start-up Day’ was organised by the DCSA under the aegis of IIC4.0 on the topic ‘Role of Start-up and Entrepreneurship in Computer Industry’ on 2 November, 2021. A total of 59 students and 05 faculty members attended the event. A total of 15 participants registered and 8 emphasised on why Entrepreneurship is important to economy and discussed their views on Start-Up India Action plan. Avneet Kaur of B.Sc. I won first prize, Rimsha of BCA I won second prize and Riddhi Sharma of BCA I got third prize.
IIC3.0@MCM was awarded four-star rating by MOE’s IC (MIC). College also received "PERFORMER" band under the category "General (Non-Technical)" in Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2021, a flagship program of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. After the announcement of results, IIC3.0 was reregistered with MIC as IIC4.0 in October, 2021. Around 16 faculty members are registered Innovation Ambassadors of MIC.
Under the ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, TOYCATHON-2021 was conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize novel Toy and Games based on Bharatiya civilization, history, culture, mythology, ethos and aspirations of today’s generation. Around 120 students participated in teams under the able guidance of 8 faculty members in TOYCATHON-2021. Five teams were shortlisted for the grand finale of TOYCATHON 2021.
A poster making contest was organised by Department of Computer Science and Applications under the aegis of IIC3.0 on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship’ on 21 August, 2021. 20 students submitted hand-made posters and posters created with designing software. Cash prizes were awarded to first three winners: Arushi Dhiman of B.Sc. MFT-II got First Prize, Piezal Singh of BCA-III bagged Second Prize and Neha of BCA-II got Third Prize.
On World Entrepreneurship Day 2021, a Case Study Competition on ‘Success or Failure Story of Start-up Founders’ was organized. A total of 54 students participated in the event. Certificates of merit were awarded to the top three entries. An Expert Talk was also organized on ‘How to Start a Start-up’ on 24 August, 2021. The resource person for the event was Mr. Abhaynoor Singh, Global Sales Manager, Tynor Orthotics Pvt. Ltd. A total of 54 students and 12 faculty members attended the event through Google Meet. 14 students attended via YouTube live streaming platform. Six students shared their stories about their start-up/entrepreneurship journeys.
Online Awareness sessions were organized for Internal college students by Innovation Ambassadors of IIC@MCM- Dr. Indu Arora and Dr. Neetu on 28 June, 2021. 14 Faculty members and 91 students attended the sessions. Dr. Indu Arora, Associate Professor, Innovation Ambassador IIC 3.0 and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications deliberated on ‘Entrepreneurship Development’ by illustrating stories of eminent entrepreneurs and explained the stages involved in the process of converting an idea into a business. The second session on ‘Pre-Incubation and Incubation Management’ was conducted by Dr. Neetu, Head of Department of Zoology. Dr. Neetu explained the role and importance of pre-incubation and incubation processes as catalysts for innovative entrepreneurs.
An online Webinar on ’Social Entrepreneurship’ was conducted on 12 June, 2021. Dr. Arun Bansal, Administrator, Social substance was the resource person for the session. He is a doctorate in Education, Environment Enthusiast, a Social Entrepreneur working for various social causes. The session revolved around the basic understanding of social entrepreneurship and conveyed that each individual irrespective of age, gender or qualification could be an entrepreneur. Around 128 participants attended the session.
A webinar was conducted on the topic ‘Angel Investing/Venture Capital Funding Opportunities for Early Stage Entrepreneurs’ on 29 May, 2021. The resource person for the event was Mr. Dinesh Duggal, Ex-Banker and Freelancer. A total 145 students and 6 faculty members attended the event through Google Meet and YouTube.
An awareness session was conducted on the topic ‘Intellectual Property Rights and Patents’ on 28/05/2021. The resource person for the event was Mr. Rakesh Kumar Kushwaha, Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs of Electrical Section in Indian Patent Office, New Delhi under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. A total of 153 students and 5 faculty members attended the event through Google Meet and YouTube live streaming platform.

An Orientation Session was conducted by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC 3.0) on the topic ‘Identifying Intellectual Property at the Early Stage of Innovation’ on 24 December, 2020. The resource person for the event was Ms. Disha Sharma, Innovation Ambassador-IPRs and Technology Transfer, IIC 3.0. A total of 95 students and 06 faculty members attended the event through Google Meet.
An Online Power Point Presentation Competition was organised on the topic "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in AatmaNirbhar Bharat” on 18th December 2020.
Approx. 21 students from the college participated in the competition and presented their views on the topic with the medium of power point presentations. Each presentation lasted for 5 to 7 minutes. To motivate the participants there were cash awards for the first three position holders (First prize of Rs. 2000, second prize of Rs. 1500 and third prize of Rs. 1000). The first position was bagged by Ms. Sangam of BSc MFT-1, second position was awarded to Ms. Twinkle Kapoor of MCom-1 and third position was bagged by Ms. Palak Kapoor of MA-2 of Economics department. A total of 92 students attended the event along with 9 faculty members.
A motivational Session was organized on Successful Entrepreneur’s Story. Sh. Hridesh Madan President, TiE, Chandigarh Chapter was the resource person on 24 November 2020. About 120 participants enrolled and 100 participants could be accommodated in the Google meet for this session.
A workshop on “Entrepreneurship & Innovation as Career Opportunity" on 21 November 2020. Mr. Sidhant Banura, Director at Ashvamegha Solutions with a demonstrated history of knowledge in the food processing industry, was the speaker for the session. 70 students and 10 faculty members attended the session.
A Session "My Story- Motivational Session by Successful Innovator" was organised on 11 November 2020. Ms. Shivanshi Vashisht, innovator and Senior Scientific Officer at the BioNEST, Panjab University was the speaker the session. 78 participants attended the session.
